More than forty million people in the United States alone suffer from some form of arthritis. There are many forms of the disease, all of which can devastate the lives of those afflicted.

A number of natural remedies made available over the past several years have proven to be extremely beneficial for providing relief for arthritis sufferers. The most effective of these formulas has usually included only one or two significant ingredients designed to help diminish the pain, inflammation and cartilage damage associated with certain forms of arthritis. The problem, however, is that different types of arthritis attack the body in different ways.

For example, osteoarthritis the most common form of the disease, involves the gradual degeneration of the joints in the body. The joint cartilage which acts as a natural "shock absorber" is gradually eroded. The ends of the bones where the cartilage is attached, the capsule surrounding the joint and adjacent muscle tissues are also adversely affected. While inflammation may not be significant in most cases of osteoarthritis, the level of pain caused by the disease intensifies as the cartilage loses its ability to allow the joint to move smoothly.

In contrast, rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disorder affecting the entire body instead of acting as a defense mechanism for the body, the immune system is triggered by the disease to attack healthy tissue. Rheumatoid arthritis is particularly harsh on the joints.

These differences, along with the needs of those suffering from other forms of joint disorders or injuries, have led to the creation of a highly effective, yet versatile, unique formulation: Joint Matrix. By providing the equivalent of seven or more products in one formula, Joint Matrix takes the guesswork out of selecting the most effective product to help treat most any form of arthritis or joint disorder.

How does Joint Matrix Work?

When dealing with joint disorders resulting from arthritis or from injury, the most beneficial steps may be those taken to enhance the body's ability to repair and restore health to the cartilage and surrounding tissues in the joints. In order to select the best possible combination of nutrients to accomplish this, it is important to understand more about the body's mechanics in maintaining healthy cartilage.

The overall framework of cartilage is made largely of the protein "collagen. " Within the network of collagen fibers are large molecules called "proteoglycans" that act as water magnets for the synovial fluid. Synovial fluid helps create a spongy cushion in and around the cartilage serving to protect the joints. Scattered throughout the cartilage are tiny "factories" called "chondrocytes. " The chondrocytes manufacture new supplies of collagen and proteoglycans for the cartilage. They also secrete enzymes necessary to rid the cartilage of worn-out tissue. However, disease or injury can impair this natural process causing debilitation of the afflicted joints.

Joint Matrix is designed to work with the cartilage matrix. Each nutrient in this remarkable formula is included because of its unique properties in treating specific forms of arthritis or damaged joints.

Definitions Of Each Nutrient In Joint Matrix

  1. Glucosamine Sulfate: Glucosamine is a long chain amino-sugar naturally occurring in cartilage. It is the major building block of the proteoglycans and is used specifically to produce glycosaminoglycans (GAG'S). GAG's are proteins that bind water within the structure of cartilage. Glucosamine also stimulates the chondrocytes to produce more collagen and proteoglycans.
  2. Chondroitin Sulfate: Like glucosamine, chondroitin is another of the mucopolysaccharides found in cartilage. Acting as a water magnet chondroitin helps elevate the levels of synovial fluid in the joint. Along with the water attracted by chondroitin are essential nutrients necessary for the health of the cartilage and joints.
  3. Shark Cartilage: In addition to its natural content of chondroitin and glucosamine, shark cartilage displays some amazing properties that go beyond those of refined mucopolysaccharides. Research has shown shark cartilage to be a powerful and nontoxic anti-inflammatory. Of particular interest to rheumatoid arthritis sufferers is the potential effect of shark cartilage in strengthening the immune system.
  4. Green Lipped Sea Mussel: In addition to its rich stores of mucopolysaccharides, green lipped sea mussel contains high levels of hyaluronic acid. A mayor constituent of synovial fluid, hyaluronic acid serves as an effective lubricant for the joint and buffers against cartilage damage.
  5. MSM (Methyisulfonylmethane): An essential nutrient required by the body, MSM plays an important role in the production of collagen. Insufficient levels of MSM can lead to an inability of the body to repair or replace damaged tissue. MSM can also play a significant role in controlling pain caused by inflamed tissue cells. Such inflammation occurs when tissue cells are unable to adjust their fluid levels in response to atmospheric pressure changes. This is why many people claim to be able to forecast weather changes by the pain in their joints. MSM helps regulate fluid transfer in the tissues by keeping the cell walls flexible and permeable
  6. L-Histidine: Those afflicted by arthritis have been shown to have abnormally low levels of the amino acid L-Histidine in their bodies. Proper intake of L-Histidine may prove beneficial in reducing inflammation associated with joint disease and other disorders.
  7. Boron: This important mineral is renowned for it's role in helping to prevent or slow the effects of osteoporosis. There is some evidence to suggest boron may prove beneficial in treating some forms of arthritis.
